Windmills on the Noordendijk in the Netherlands

The Netherlands and windmills are two words that naturally go hand-in-hand in most people's minds. The Dutch built windmills for many centuries for all sorts of industrial purposes including corn milling, land drainage and saw milling.  There are approximately 1,200 windmills which have survivied to today, and many are currently in the process of being restored.
